A note from Oisín McGann
The issue of climate change covers a huge range of subjects, and the people who dedicate their whole lives to just one small segment of it. This list was taken from the wider range of reference material I consulted during the writing of the book, which I’ve chosen to show where I took my information from, but also because each one is a good starting point for the specific topic it covers.
As I say throughout the book, I am not an expert on any of these subjects, but I do hope to inspire curiosity and interest in them. Pick something you’re interested in and get stuck into it. Passion is the best motivator, and some of these references might help get you started.
Oisín McGann
Oisín McGann is a best-selling and award-winning writer and illustrator. He has produced dozens of books and short stories for all ages of reader, including twelve novels. In 2014 and 2015, he was the Irish writer-in-residence for Weather Stations, an EU-funded project where writers from five different countries were tasked with finding ways to use storytelling to raise awareness of climate change. He has carried on this work through school residencies in primary and secondary schools, funded by Poetry Ireland Writers in Schools and Irish Aid’s WorldWise Global Schools. He is married with three children, two dogs and a cat, and lives somewhere in the Irish countryside, where he won’t be heard shouting at his computer.
