"While this book is about climate change, it's about our human story too – all the acts of brilliance and absurdity that got us here, and where we're off to next."
Published in association with Friends of the Earth Ireland.
This is the story of humans and fire and how we've changed the world.
It's a story about our civilisation and our environment, about wildfires and glaciers, war and wilderness. It's about tiny ocean creatures, giant machines and teenagers protesting on city streets.
It's about climate change and the millions of people who are already taking action to do something about it.
This is an invitation to join in.
10% of the cover price of each copy sold goes to Friends of the Earth.
Printed by Ashley House on 100% recycled FSC paper, with fully-biodegradable vegan inks and no plastic packaging, this book is part of the solution.
Oisín has kindly shared his reference materials.'The book is a delight, and not just for kids. It’s informative, conversational, full of wonder at the beauty of our planet and also full of practical tips on what we can do and how we can help.' – The Meath Chronicle
'Writing in a conversational and engaging style, Irish author McGann provides answers to how the tipping point has been reached on land, air, and sea…. A good choice for those wanting to understand and tackle climate change.' – Kirkus
'Beautifully written and presents a broad range of science-based facts about the current climate crisis in a thoroughly innovative and easy-to-understand format.' – Portland Book Review
A note from Oisín McGann
The issue of climate change covers a huge range of subjects, and the people who dedicate their whole lives to just one small segment of it. This list was taken from the wider range of reference material I consulted during the writing of the book, which I’ve chosen to show where I took my information from, but also because each one is a good starting point for the specific topic it covers.
As I say throughout the book, I am not an expert on any of these subjects, but I do hope to inspire curiosity and interest in them. Pick something you’re interested in and get stuck into it. Passion is the best motivator, and some of these references might help get you started.
