Do you ever wonder how far is too far in books for teenagers? Is it really ok to discuss sex, drugs and drinking, and what impact does this have on young readers? Is there a line that we must stop at, and does all literature for teenagers now have to be shocking to get their attention?
To find out more, join Director of Children’s Books Ireland, Elaina Ryan, and a panel of readers, writers and industry experts at this year’s Mountains to Sea Festival for a discussion about Young Adult fiction and just how far authors can and should go. And we at Little Island have TWO FREE TICKETS to give away to a lucky reader.
The panel includes our very own Sheena Wilkinson, winner of numerous CBI awards for her young adult writing and author of three books for teenagers. Aaron Williams is a student at Newpark Comprehensive and a keen reader. David O’Callaghan is the Children’s Book Buyer at Eason and a huge YA fan. Mary Arrigan is an award-winning writer and reviewer. Her latest book is Milo and the Raging Chieftains. Louise O’ Neill is the debut author of Only Ever Yours. Jeanette Winterson described it as ‘A dark dream. A vivid nightmare.’
